Hey, I'm Madison!

Hey, I'm Madison Hernandez Chandler- a nanny and art student turned pro wedding and portrait photographer. I currently call Atlanta, Georgia home and have additional roots in Americus, Georgia. I travel all kinds of places for work! Since 2008, I have captured approximately 50 weddings all over the state of Georgia, and this year I branched out to photograph weddings in Tennessee, North Carolina, and Maine too. I grew my creative eye while attending college for my bachelors degree in art.  Even while studying, nannying, and being an active member in my sorority and local community - I just kept coming back to photography.

After a lot of prayer and reflection, I realized this is where my heart needed to be invested fully- making people feel seen, telling stories, and documenting life's most precious milestones. This August I decided to take a huge leap of faith. I am letting go of the security that comes along with a 9-5 nanny job to allow room for my creative business to flourish even more.

My husband David is my rock. We have been together for five years, married for just one. So bride or groom, I was recently in your shoes, making wedding plans and trying to decide who would document our special day. After working in the wedding industry for 10 years, I decided a big wedding just wasn't the right fit for me, so we eloped in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado instead. It was everything I ever dreamed our wedding day would be, and we had no DJ, no table decor, no cake- just the people that mean the most to us standing by our side as we promised our lives to one another. So if you are on the fence between a big wedding and eloping- I understand, and I'm here to artfully document your marriage in whatever way you decide!

I am a self admitted coffee addict and cat lover. We have two very large cats, Catsby and Olivia, and they definitely keep us laughing. We also have a baby named Grace in heaven. I was able to carry him from March - June 2nd of 2018, and it changed our lives forever. You can read more about our journey with pregnancy loss here. I tend to live simply and value experiences over things- no like seriously, I only have five pairs of shoes and that includes all four seasons. In my free time you can find me painting in my studio/office, hiking with my husband, or playing with my niece and nephew- guys, they are truly amazing kids!

My shooting style is all about looking for and finding the right light, while my editing style is all about emulating the aesthetic of film photography. During my photo sessions I coach my clients throughout the entire process in order to get the most natural poses and compositions. While more traditional, formal, posed portraits are important to have, I fully believe that the more candid moments capture who we truly are as human beings. Those are the moments I’m looking for when photographing a wedding or portrait session. Moments > poses.

If you're looking for something super traditional and stuffy, you won't find that with me. If you are looking to have fun and be yourself, we should chat!"
